Sponsor 4 Success, in partnership with Mark Cuban Heroes, is offering a non-paid two week summer internship for a college student who is interested in developing, promoting and implementing nutrition, fitness and wellness programs. The intern in this position is usually interested in becoming a Wellness Coordinator, Health Promotion Specialist, Health Educator, Sports Trainer, Registered Dietitian or Facility Manager. The internship will take place July 10-23, 2018. This position is designed to offer the successful candidate the ability to build/strengthen the following skillsets:

  • Gain on-the-job training experience under the direction of health and sport management professionals.
  • Apply industry specific knowledge to professional practice.
  • Identify areas of interest within the sport management industry.
  • Identify the proper channels of communication within the specific organization.
  • Practice decision-making through testing theories and ideas, in accordance with stated policies of the particular organization.
  • Gain administrative experience in a health and wellness management setting.
  • Develop professional social skills.
  • Identify the qualities inherent to working successfully with coworkers and clients.
  • Job Description

  • Work on-site at the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center, and partner locations under the supervision of Trina Terrell, Cuban Center Director of Operations.
  • Interface with Cuban Center guests, high school and professional athletes.
  • Develop educational materials to supplement existing programs.
  • Conduct literature searches for current trends/guidelines in the field.
  • Core Requirements

  • Student should be a college student majoring in health promotion/health education/exercise science, corporate fitness, wellness, public health and or nutrition with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Students should have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours
  • Must be a US Citizen and resident of the state of Kentucky
  • Must attand a university in the state of Kentucky
  • Required Skillsets

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Mastery level in Microsoft Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to influence and interact with multiple levels of an organization
  • Strong multitasking ability/prioritization
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Must have a smart phone & reliable transportation.
