My name is LaJuan Odom. I am 13 years old and an 8th grade student at The Academy @ Shawnee Middle School. The Academy @ Shawnee is a priority public and engineering magnet school with an emphasis in STEAM careers. Shawnee serves students grades 6-12 in the west end of Louisville, Kentucky. This year, Shawnee's Middle School will be taking its 8th grade graduating class of 30 students on a fun-filled educational trip to St. Louis, MO. I am seeking your support in order to attend along with my peers. This will be my first trip out of town with my peers and a once in a lifetime event I don't want miss!
The trip will take place on April 16-18, 2020 and will include visits to the following:
-- Gateway Arch
-- St. Louis Aquarium
-- Cahokia Mounds State historic site
-- St. Louis Zoo
-- St. Louis Science Center
-- Mississippi River Paddlewheeler Cruise
and various breathtaking experiences at the one and only Six Flags Mid-America Theme park and possibly a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Game!
This is an unforgettable learning opportunity for my peers and I, many of whom, have not ventured out of the city of Louisville. I have two older siblings in college and without outside financial support I will not be able to attend this trip. The total cost for the trip per student is $630. This includes:
- Motorcoach transportation
- Two nights hotel accommodations (in quads) w/nightly security
- Two breakfasts and two dinners
- All admissions and entrance fees
- All taxes and tips
- Professional tour escort
- Coverage under Educational Travel Consultants' (ETC) liability insurance policy
I know this is a lot of money. However, my school believes in the educational power of giving these kinds of experiences to young people and that is why I am seeking your help.
Please consider making a donation! My final payment is due February 3, 2020. The memories of this trip will be one that I will remember for the rest of my life.
With kind regards and sincere thanks,
LaJuan Odom
