My name is Tarryn Long and am a 18 year old attending Eastern High School. Currently, I have a 3.8 weighted GPA and work part time at Target. I am a peer tutor at school and have spent time volunteering at Wilder and Young Elementary, Bates Memorial Christmas program, and Shawnee High. I was a member of the Eastern High School track and soccer teams.

I will be attending the University of Kentucky in the Fall of 2017. My intended major is psychology and I have dreams of becoming a forensic psychologist or psychiatrist after attending medical school. My goal is to study the neurological functions and provide assistance to people with mental illness. Mental illness is prevalent in all communities and should be addressed at all costs and I hope that I can someday make a positive difference by serving others.

I am interested in being part of an upcoming mission trip to Haiti sponsored by Bates. Attending this trip will allow me to widen my global perspectives. It will also allow me to spread Gods word. Growing up my grandmother always went on mission trips. Watching her go to different places and make a difference in people's life is what inspires me today.
