Hello, I am Braylon and this is my little brother Bryson! I am 9 years old, in the 3rd grade attending Mill Creek Leadership Academy. This summer I would like to attend Camp J at the Jewish Community Center of Louisville.
Going as far back as my great-grandmother I can remember, my family has suffered from mental illness from generation to generation such as bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia, OCD, anxiety, and Autism. I’ve had to learn quickly about the illnesses that affected my loved ones so that I could understand them and also understand myself. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. My mom says that I have such a big heart for people and care so much for others; that it seems to increase my anxiety at times. My mind is always going and I feel that Camp J offers so many activities to keep me focused, relaxed, and positive energy.
Hello, I am Bryson Blocker. I am 8 years old in the 2nd grade also attending Mill Creek Leadership Academy. I would like to attend Camp J this summer because I like to create things with my hands. I like to bake, paint, decorate, and draw. I’m not a social butterfly but I’m ready to find my own voice (away from my big brother) and share my talents with the world. I feel Camp J is the place to be because it has music, dance, arts & crafts, science & nature, swimming, drama, and more to explore.
We would like to attend at least 2 or 3 weeks of the camp but my mom cannot afford it all on her own because she is a single mother. We know she would like us to stay involved in structured activities to enrich our minds academically but also physically and socially. Any donation is considered a blessing and we graciously appreciate it. Thank you!
