My name is Angela Masden and I was having a conversation with a dear friend named Mike Minor that coaches a local football team in the Shelby Park area called PCC Bears. He was explaining to me that he had to save at least $120 a pay check to pay for this upcoming season on helmets. Of course my next question was Why? He explained that his boys have been wearing unsafe helmets that date back 5 years, they often come off when they get tackled, some helmets don't have chin straps and the look compared to other teams is outdated and they are called "the poor team". As the conversation went on I could hear in his voice that he just couldn't and didn't want his boys to go through this yet another year. I heard in his voice the passion, the determination, the willingness to take out of his pocket to provide for 25 football players that in his eyes are family.
After this conversation I knew I needed to help a friend somehow. What he does for the community, families, single mothers, single fathers and of course the team, he needs support to continue his passion of coaching. He has the biggest heart and just wants to continue to coach a team to success.
Our goal is to supply brand new football helmets to 25 boys ages 5-8. If they cant get new helmets this season the team will not be in compliance and will be forced to cancel the season. We are looking to raise $1,250 to purchase 15 new helmets.
Coach Mike goal is provide a successful season and teach these players about life through the game of football.
